Dr Tasneem Kathree

Senior Researcher

Dr Tasneem Kathree (PhD) is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Research in Health systems (CRH). Her interests are in in health systems strengthening, integrated mental health care, and maternal mental health.

Her current roles include:

  • ENHANCE (Evidence led co-created health systems strengthening interventions for multiple long-term conditions) Project Manager -KZN site (UK NIHR)
  • Feasibility and acceptability of critical time intervention to support people with mental illness following post- acute hospital discharge in South Africa(Incorporating a task-shared approach for mental health (NIH) Co-Investigator
  • Scaling up training for health care workers in the SMhINT psychoeducational package (A task-shared approach for mental health) (Anova Health Institute) -Principal Investigator
  • Development of a Community Mental Health Education and Detection tool for adolescents: CMED-A in Umhlathuze in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (A task-shared approach for mental health) Formative research towards developing the tool (SAMRC -SIR) -Principal Investigator
  • Co-development and assessment of accuracy and feasibility, including limited efficacy of a community mental health education and detection tool for children and adolescents (CMED-C) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. (A task-shared approach for mental health) (ChildMind Institute) -Co-Investigator

Awards: Dr Kathree was awarded a College of Health Sciences (UKZN) Early Career Research Development award in 2021.
