On 30 October 2020, the KZN Mental Health and Substance Abuse directorate hosted their Annual October Mental Health and Substance Abuse Seminar in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month.
The theme for this year was “Mental Health for All Greater Investment – Greater Access”.
The Centre for Rural Health was invited to participate in the event and share some insights on the projects they have undertaken to support the KZN DoH in achieving integrated mental health care at Primary Health Care. Ms Sithabisile Gugulethu Gigabare presented the Mental Health Integration Programme (MhINT) and provided a talk titled: “Strengthening the health system to achieve scale-up of integrated mental health care.”
